Our 4th Day Reunion is scheduled for Saturday, November 14, 10 am – noon at St. Paul’s in Murfreesboro. For those who haven’t been there, St. Paul’s is located at 315 East Main Street. There is limited parking behind the church (enter off College Street), and ample parking on a Saturday in the bank lot on the other side of Academy Street. Hope you can make it.
Our Ultreya will be a Saturday evening palanca party this month. Help us as we prepare palanca and pray for TEC #73.
Cursillo #73 is fast approaching, and the 4th Day has work to do to get ready. The Servant Community will gather on Saturday morning, September 26, from 9:00 to 11:00 at St. Paul's Parish Hall to prepare the materials needed for the weekend. This will be the only business of the Servant Community that day. Please plan on being with us to share in the fun and excitement. And while you're at it, bring completed and signed forms of participants you are sponsoring along with their registration fee.
Join us for an Ultreya Saturday evening at 6:00 PM. Bring an appetizer to share.
Please join us at St. Paul's Murfreesboro in the new parish hall on Sunday, September 13 after the 11:00 service for an Ultreya gathering. There will be an inspiring witness talk, music led by an enthusiastic team, and a delicious pot luck dinner. After dinner, you may stay to share in some coloring fun to prepare for the October weekend. Come, be renewed! Bring something to share for potluck and some creative energy for the simple artwork needed.
Join us at Church of the Messiah Pulaski for an Ultreya breakfast before church.
Join us for a joint Ultreya for Good Shepherd & Grace Church, Spring Hill, on Saturday, June 27th, 6pm @ Herlong Hall, Good Shepherd. All Cursillistas in the diocese should come out and support as we move onward, Ultreya!
A new Open Group Reunion will start this Wednesday, December 10th at 6:15 pm in the Wall Building. This group reunion will meet every Wednesday and is open to anyone.
Come and join the cursillistas of Holy Cross as they encourage each other onward... ULTREYA! Joyce Adkins will give the witness talk with a Gospel response from The Rev. Carolyn Coleman.
On Saturday, Nov. 16. Not only will you spend a bit more precious time with the folks who shared your Cursillo weekend, you will gain a better understanding of why the Cursillo method works and the underlying themes that may not have been evident to you on the weekend.
This workshop will sort of wrap everything up and put it all in place for you.
I encourage each of you to actively pursue joining or starting a Group Reunion of friends/folks who will help you grow spiritually by holding you accountable and commited.
The reason we hold Cursillos is to create Group Reunions; being in a Group Reunion is the difference between those who look back at their Cursillo weekend and say, “Cursillo changed my life” and those who look back and say “It was a really cool and lovely weekend.” Recall the meditation on the Rich Young Man?
Please attend your 4th Day workshop and please please get into a Group Reunion. Your sponsor signed your registration form and stated that he or she would help you find a Group Reunion and should be willing to Group with you until you can locate one. Ask your sponsor, ask your rector, ask another Curstillista.
Sweeten me, Lord
Jim Rutledge, TEC #46 (Fall 1996)
This Ultreya will focus on preparing for TEC #71. Placemats, palanca, etc. The meeting will follow the 11:00 service.
Cursillo : pronounced Cur-see’-yo! This is a Spanish word that means “short course” – Cursillo weekends are a short course in the Christian faith.
Ultreya! (Ull-tray’-uh) - It’s an expression you learn when you go on a Cursillo weekend. It comes from a medieval Spanish word (spelling was certainly different) and it means Onward!
People who’ve gone on a Cursillo weekend use the term Ultreya to mean a reunion – a group gathering that includes a bunch of people who’ve all “made” a Cursillo weekend, as well as inviting anyone who’s interested in Cursillo… as well as anyone interested in just getting together with a bunch of nice church friends! Therefore, an Ultreya is a good excuse for getting together around our faith and sharing some good food, too!
Cursillo Commission members from the diocese will be here; we’re inviting everybody to come. Potluck dinner at 5:00 p.m., with a chicken and a vegetarian entrée provided.
Ultreya after the 11:00 service Sunday the 18th. Potluck lunch following. Joyce, Crickett, Kathleen's reunion group is giving the talks. David Rowe is talking about sponsorship.
